Management and Information Systems

Week 6 Lecture.-

On Monday morning I attended my regular lectures with Mr. Bilal Haider. The topic to be discussed today was Cloud Computing and Relational Databases. To start off he showed us a video of how can someone hack your device in a couple of minutes just with those Free Wi-Fi signals we get on the streets or at some places. Overall it was a very interesting lecture, but the point I liked the most was the Advanced Cloud Applications in Green Computing as this is the study and practice of environmentally sustainable computing and I liked it because after looking at the major climate changes and global warming, this one likes to do everything bearing in mind all the environmental issues by reduced printing , power management software, cloud computing and many more. At the end of the lecture he was very kind of explaining again on how to do our group presentations which was very helpful overall and a really interesting class as well.

Week 6 Seminar.-

On Tuesday afternoon we had our weekly lab sessions seminars, but just like last week, this one was held by Mr. Bilal Haider as Mrs. was busy. Before starting the session he explained us about how exactly we have to present our MIS group presentation. Just after that he gave us a tutorial sheet with how to use the LOOKUP and VLOOKUP Functions in Excel. At the beginning it was a bit confusing and the funny part was that we were not able to find the right formulas to get the answers and asked for Mr. Haiders help. Much to ours and our lecturers surprise, we still could not find any answer. However, at the end he made us realise our mistake which was to continue reading the tutorial sheet in order to understand fully all the functions. Finally I was able to understand how these two functions work and hopefully it will help me a lot in the near future.

Week 6 Group Discussion.-

In between our Lab session we were given time to discuss in our group about our presentation. Unfortunately one of our group member Lyn was not able to make it to the lecture of today nor the seminar to what we were really worried as we met her just one day before and she said she would come today, as well as she has not helped in anything so far, so we explained it to our lecturer Mr. Haider who very wisely gave us the right solution. Afterwards we discussed on how to divide the work between us 4, Charlene, Richard, Jhon and myself bearing in mind the interview questions Charlene and Richard took on Friday to the Law Firm we are working with. So finally we decide to divide the work equally amongst us as each one of us will do one point, and on Thursday we will see how far is it going to be able to finish it by next week in order to focus on our other group assignments.
